Veteran television star Des O’Connor (pictured) has been a recent victim of credit card fraud The Telegraph reports.
A John Lewis sales assistant spent nearly £1000 of the entertainers money during a £169,000 credit card fraud spree. Olanrewaju Apalara, 26, used the camera on his mobile phone to secretly capture customer credit card details whislt he served them in the Oxford Street branch of John Lewis. He later went online, registered the cards under false names and purchased electronic goods. These were subsequently sold on ebay.
He was convicted at Southwark Crown Court and has been sent to jail for 18 months.
